Grand Circle Travel Sponsors our Mother’s Day Luncheon

Posted on May. 05, 2015

Every year our good friends at Grand Circle Travel join us on Mother’s Day to celebrate the beautiful women we serve at Little Brothers. Grand Circle is a company that speaks to the heart of us here at Little Brothers. The founder, Ethel Andrus, built GCT with the dream to help retired Americans live rich, engaging, exciting lives. She is the founder of AARP, and created GCT as the travel arm of the organization. And as we all know from my blog last month, people who stay engaged with their community and world around them tend to do better later in life.

The team of volunteers who come are always incredible people, eager to help out and create a special day for our old friends. This year was no exception. On Sunday, May 2nd eight GCT employees (and their kids!) joined forces with our Little Brothers volunteer drivers to host a party for 20 elderly women. The luncheon was a true LBFE event complete with a nutritious meal, hand decorated gift bags, flowers, and to top it all off, the company of friends. Our old friends enjoyed the vibrancy of the children, the excitement of meeting the new Grand Circle volunteers, and the company of the people they’ve come to love over the years, both volunteers and peers.

The afternoon closed with the presentation of a beautifully decorated cake reading “Celebrating Beautiful Women”.

The Mother’s Day luncheon is a big favorite with our elders because it offers an opportunity to meet more people in our community, and spend time with families who volunteer together. If you or your organization is interested in sponsoring a luncheon we would be honored to have you here. Please contact Nikki at ntherrien.bos@littlebrothers.org for more information.
