Welcome LBFE's Newest Program Assistants

Welcome LBFE’s Newest Program Assistants

Posted on Sep. 07, 2016

Hello!

It hardly feels like two months since we welcomed Amanda and Varsha to our team. Since then, our Program Assistants for the 2015-2016 year have returned to Germany to continue their studies. While we said goodbye to two amazing Program Assistants, we are fortunate to say hello to two new Program Assistants. They come to Little Brothers from World Horizon, a non-profit organization with the goal “to overcome national and ethnic boundaries and to redress social, financial and cultural deprivation.” You can learn more about their program online. Not only does World Horizon send volunteers to the Little Brothers Boston chapter, but volunteers also work with our chapters in Chicago and Hancock, Michigan. I’d like to officially welcome and introduce, Imke Heering and Jasmin Higo, who will be with LBFE for the new year.

Imke Heering is from Kisdorf, Germany. This past year, she graduated from high school where she majored in Biology. During her free time, she likes to go for runs, play the piano, meet with friends, and loves to travel. She is working with Little Brothers because she wants to help socially isolated elders and hopes to spend a lot of time with them. During this year, she hopes to meet as many people as possible and experience a “very American year” in Boston. (Pictured above)

Jasmin Higo is from Munich, Germany. She recently graduated from high school, where she majored in English, Math, and French. She loves reading different inspirational books, such as “I am Malala” by Malala Yousafzai, dancing zumba, travelling and spending time with people. After an eye opening trip to Ethiopia, she decided that “everyone is able to make the world (even if it is just a little bit) better and make someone’s day brighter.” That is why she is spending the next year with Little Brothers and embodying the vision of ‘flowers before bread’ – meaning that not only material needs- but especially love and friendship- are really important.
