Building Connections. Fostering Friendships. Connecting Generations. Creating Community. Ending Social Isolation.
LBFE Boston is a community-based nonprofit that helps relieve and prevent social isolation by bringing intergenerational, digital equity, and arts programs to older adults in public/affordable senior housing and community centers.
This week and next we are highlighting the arts! Our Creative Connections program is thriving and older adults are enjoying a variety of genres to express their creativity! Here, at a weekly poetry class led by Partners in Rhyme at Veronica B Smith Multi Services Senior Center, the crew read and wrote poetry about 'kindness.'
Writing and reciting poetry has a whole host of benefits, including emotional expression, improved memory, and social interaction. ... See MoreSee Less
This week is all about the arts! Our Creative Connections program is thriving and older adults are enjoying a variety of classes this fall! Here's the gang from Veronica B Smith Multi Services Senior Center participating in a weekly poetry class led by Partners in Rhyme. On this day, we read and wrote poems about "Kindness."
The LBFE Boston's offices and programs are closed today, Monday, October 14th, in honor of Indigenous Peoples Day. Take some time today to recognize the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of their communities.

"I HAVE to learn what to do with my phone and computers so I can keep up with my grandkids. I'm GOING to learn so I can send THEM videos, so I can FaceTime THEM. I'm like a little kid. I LOVE it and I'll never stop learning! Thank you!" -Lana
(Translated from a Mandarin-speaking older adult re: learning Google Translate on the Chromebook) "I can more precisely read and understand the English documents, mails, food labels, medicine drug labels. It increased my English level." -Junxin
"I like to go to class and sit and listen. If I learn one thing, that's great. Getting myself up, dressed, and out of my apartment into the community room is good for me. I am logging more hours on the Internet: how to cook chicken thighs, military history..I find YouTube endlessly interesting!" -Dana
