Building Connections. Fostering Friendships. Connecting Generations. Creating Community. Ending Social Isolation.
LBFE Boston is a community-based nonprofit that helps relieve and prevent social isolation by bringing intergenerational, digital equity, and arts programs to older adults in public/affordable senior housing and community centers.
According to the The New York Times, a Harvard study found that despite frequent social media use, many teens still experience loneliness, with over half not interacting with others regularly. Experts link this to comparison-driven social media habits, an overreliance on text over voice calls, and binge-watching, all of which may be contributing to a growing loneliness epidemic.
🍂 Celebrating togetherness this Thanksgiving season with a fun game of Bingo at Woodbourne Apartments! College students and older adults come together, share laughs, and create lasting memories over some friendly competition.🦃💛
Youth Speaks Boston is the first-ever citywide youth needs assessment. Learn more and take their survey to help shape future policies, programs, and resources.
Join us at The Pryde Community Center on THURSDAY (11/21) from 1:00pm-2:30pm and let your voice be heard by The City of Boston's Age Strong Commission.
Age Strong is conducting a needs assessment to learn more about the needs, concerns, and priorities of Boston’s older adults. The goal is to create an Age Strong Plan which aims to make Boston inclusive and accessible to people of all ages. This is a valuable opportunity to let your voice be heard! They want to hear your ideas about how Boston can be a better place to age.
"At Roslindale House we were playing 7-Up. It was their first time playing this game, so I was teaching them and I kept winning each game. After I won five rounds in a row we called it a day. But the following weeks, the older adults always request to play 7-Up and try to beat me!" -Xinyi, Fall 2024 Co-op

"At Foley Apartments we ran a Digital Dividends program, where we gave older adults computers and taught them how to use it. In this photo, I am sitting with Mary who is visually impaired. I am researching on my phone different ways to make the computer more accessible for her. We made the cursor a different color and I was able to magnify her screen for her." -Mackenzie, Fall 2024 Co-op
