Some of the most special moments happen between younger and older participants at our social CitySites when we play games and chat about whatever's on our minds.

On this day at Smith House, we shared stories and learned more about each other while playing dominoes with Nair! She told us about her upcoming birthday and excitement over her plans to visit her family.

Don't underestimate the power of a simple conversation with someone from a different generation!

#facetofacefriday #olderamericansmonth Meet some of the #olderadult and #collegestudent participants at Patricia White apartments...Olivia, Mary, Amy, Maggie, Yongjae, Nathan, Al, and Bernell!

On the last day of the spring session, we painted tote bags for everyone to keep. Yongjae talked to Al about his art and how good it feels to be appreciated for one's skill. Mary helped Al move some of his art around...this is such a caring group. We'll see you soon!

Here are 2 more simple things your organization or business can do to support #olderamericansmonth!

1) Connect older adults with local services, such as counseling, that can help them overcome obstacles to meaningful relationships and access to support systems.

2) Host connection-centric events or programs where older adults can serve as mentors to peers, younger adults, or youth.

A Creative Connections painting class led by instructor Myrlene Legendre Desir started last week at a new program site, Pasciucco Apartments! Did you know that painting activities offer older adults therapeutic benefits including increased social interaction, an avenue for self-expression, and enhanced motor skills and coordination?

#OlderAmericansMonth #facetofacefriday Meet Toniy! He joined LBFE every week this semester at our CitySites program at Back of the Hill apartments. Toniy is very friendly and an amazing conversationalist. He loves to help people and is always willing to teach us new games.

Earlier this year, Toniy met a woman in a grocery store who was also Muslim. She told him she had lost her Qur'an, and Toniy offered to replace it for her. For many weeks, Youngjae and Toniy worked together to package a new Qur'an as a gift, along with a note for her.

InsideHook wrote a story about Toniy & Yongjae and it was published this spring. Check it out here: www.insidehook.com/wellness/can-different-generations-friends
