Kayla Carrasuillo, NU|ACES Team Leader
Hi! My name Is Kayla Carrasquillo and I am apart of NU| ACES. I am currently in Northeastern apart of their Explore Program exploring Engineering, Psychology, and Mathematics majors. Some things I like to do are photography, drawing, writing poetry, and watching movies.
I was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts and my family is from Puerto Rico.
I chose to serve with LBFE because I value the time that people spend getting to know others. I feel like so many times people are caught up in their own problems and situations that they do not tend to those around them, making us deprived of socialization which can lead to loneliness. Having the opportunity to volunteer for the city I love and hold dear to my heart has always been and always will be a privilege. Therefore with LBFE, I hope to learn from the interactions I have with both the older and younger participants, striving to understand them and the city around me more.
I do not consider myself a person of talents, but I grew up speaking Spanish so I am more than willing to help around with all that I can do and whatever skills that I am missing I hope to gain from this opportunity.
Surrounding yourself with people that are of different age groups teaches you how to be a better person, whether if this is the advice the older participants give or the feedback given by the younger participants, one is always bound to learn and evolve.
