Thao Trinh, Northeastern ACES Team Leader

My name is Thao Trinh, I’m one of the team leaders for The Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly at Smith House in Roxbury. I am currently a freshman at Northeastern University majoring in Nursing. My hobbies outside of school includes hanging out with friends, families and trying out new recipes. As a future nurse, one of my goals is to be able to help the communities around me and to gain valuable lessons through experiences that will further help me in the future. LBFE provides the opportunity for me to work at a local senior housing, and I am in love with the place after my first week working here! During my time at LBFE, I hope to be able to make as many elders smile as possible, and be a small part of their week together with my team members. As a bilingual speaker, I am able to communicate to others in both Vietnamese and English. I also consider myself to be a team player, and encourages teamwork within a community, because unity is built upon teamwork. Through working with LBFE, I hope to be able to grow as a person both personally and professionally. This opportunity revolves a lot around teamwork and community building, and I believe that working together in a team will help me become a more responsible person about everything I do. Professionally speaking, I hope this opportunity will give me a glimpse about what the community around us really need. I am really excited to be meeting and working with members of the LBFE team who also share the passion of working with the elderly like me. I hope that through this program, I will gain the knowledge and insights working with a variety of different people in the community around me, and build long-lasting relationships with the people that I work with!

Don’t forget to check out next week’s blog to see who will be highlighted then!
