Hi! My name’s Jack Kloster, and I’m originally from Kansas City, Kansas. I am a third-year student attending Boston College, studying Biology and Philosophy on the pre-medical track. Some activities I’m involved with on campus include Club Baseball, an undergraduate research fellowship studying cellular agriculture, and various service opportunities such as tutoring.I’m taking an elective course under BC’s PULSE program called Values in Social Services and Health Care. Overall, the mission of the PULSE Program is to educate students about social injustice by putting students, like me, into direct contact with social change organizations. My class’s specific goal is to give a more in-depth perspective on social injustices and offer a reflection on these valuable service experiences.
Previously, I volunteered at a palliative hospice center in my hometown, which gave me an incredible experience talking and interacting with others regarding their life adventures and stories. This past experience gravitated me towards volunteering at LBFE Boston | Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly.
In my time with Little Brothers, I hope to gain a similar experience working with older adults and expand my communication skills to an intergenerational level. I also hope to improve many skills, such as being compassionate to others, while gaining a better understanding of the work Little Brother does throughout the Boston and worldwide community. Overall, I’m excited to work with and learn from my co-workers and those I will be supporting!
