Kate Lietz, Forest Foundation Summer Intern, Boston College PULSE Alumna
Hi! My name is Kate Lietz and I recently graduated from Boston College with a degree in Sociology. I am originally from New Hampshire, but have come to call Boston my home over the past four years. Since September, I have been volunteering with Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly through a service-learning program at BC. This past year, I spent roughly four hours a week volunteering at CitySites and participating in the One-On-One Friendly Visiting program. I am thrilled to continue my work with the organization as an intern this summer. Beginning in June, I will be helping with virtual CitySites, tele-friend phone calls to older adults in the community, and assisting with other office tasks. I am excited to build upon the skills I have gained in the work I’ve already done with LBFE, while taking on new tasks within the organization. I look forward to continuing to connect with older adults in the city and helping them find pockets of joy in these difficult and often isolating times. It is my intention to continue to build virtual communities that were once fostered in person. I look forward to working with LBFE as they navigate this new, virtual chapter throughout the summer.
