I grew up in Barrington, Rhode Island, with my parents and three siblings. Some things I love include traveling, watching hockey, going to the beach, live music, reading, and playing my guitar. I chose to do my co-op at LBFE because I believe it is fulfilling a crucial need in Boston to end isolation and loneliness among urban older adults.
My previous work with unhoused individuals as a volunteer for Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program, and with children as a mentor and Programming Chair for the DREAM Program at Northeastern, have instilled in me a passion for serving marginalized communities.
I hope that working with older adults for the first time will provide me with new insights about social justice and human services. I am excited to push outside of my comfort zone to expand my knowledge and ability to serve underserved individuals in a context that is new for me.
I’ve learned about the nonprofit sector in both my Economics and Human Services coursework, so I am excited to see all my classroom learning in action and learn more about behind-the-scenes nonprofit work, as well as explore the intersection of my two majors.
Beyond professional growth, I can’t wait to get to know some older adults in the Boston community and to find out what I have to learn from them as well. In this co-op, I am most looking forward to getting to know all the amazing, passionate people at Little Brothers Boston and to be part of a team. I am so grateful for this opportunity to work at LBFE and am thrilled to be joining the great work that is going on here.
